I will use the super ideas I learned today with a social studies unit that is coming up soon. I'm excited to see how the boys I targeted engage with learning, and improve their skills. I especially liked the Hoax sites....too much fun!

Thanks!!

Several ahas...First, the issue with boys and engagement during reading instruction. All of the literature we reviewed seemed to point to the idea that boys need to be engaged through relevant activities. All of the activities reviewed today seem to be useful to that end. The explorers lesson was enlightening for many reasons. First, research on the Web should be used to address a specific, focused question. The three-column note suggestion, though not new, was significant in order to focus students' research and to promote higher order thinking. Thanks for the productive day!

Ah Ha! I now know how to use podcasts on I-Tunes. That will be a great resource to use. I also really enjoyed learning more about Garage Band. I would like to try the poem in two voices with my students soon. I think they would be very engaged and excited with the result.

I enjoyed working with the podcasts today. I feel that they are something that as I practice more, I will be able to implement in the classroom on a regular basis to make everything more interesting to my students. I was able to get many ideas through the technology we used today for ways to add variety and engagement to the classroom setting. I am excited to try these ideas as soon as possible!

I had several ahas today about the importance of brining the technology kids are using outside of school into the classroom. I will create a two person poem movie using Garage Band about animal adaptations.
